The Art Museum of West Virginia University takes seriously its role as a university museum. Therefore, it makes working closely with university professors, staff, and students a priority.
In order to best utilize the museum and its resources, we ask that you take the following policies into consideration when planning your visit:
- Tours must be requested at least two weeks in advance. Tour dates are not guaranteed until confirmed by a member of museum staff.
- The museum can accommodate up to 50 students at a time. For larger sections, please contact Educational Programs Manager Heather Harris at firstname.lastname@example.org to make appropriate arrangements. If bringing a group of larger than 20, we suggest dividing into smaller groups and utilizing teaching assistants or volunteer docents to help facilitate your visit.
- All university groups must be scheduled prior to visiting. Even if a professor or instructor desires to lead the class in a tour, he or she must contact us with a tour request in order to avoid scheduling conflicts with other groups and overcrowding in the galleries.
- If your research or scholarship requires you to view a piece in our collection that is not currently on display, please contact Museum Registrar Valerie M. Wright at VMWright@mail.wvu.edu.
To make a tour request, please fill out the form at this link: WVU class visit request form
A member of museum staff will contact you shortly to confirm the details of your visit.
