Designed by renowned architect Michael Graves and opened in 1986 as the Erickson Alumni Center, the Museum Education Center is available for rental. Reservation space in the Grand Hall is available for lectures, seminars, recitals, receptions, meetings, parties, luncheons and dinners. The Museum Education Center is not available for commercial sales or retail use, partisan political activity, church or religious services (with exceptions of weddings), fundraising activities for profit, or any similar activity.
The Grand Hall features a 40-foot Appalachian Pine ceiling and a gas fireplace. The space can accommodate up to 150 people for a sit-down dinner and 300 people for a stand-up reception. All food and beverage services must be catered through approved vendors. A list of vendors will be provided by the museum, along with any restrictions regarding use of the Grand Hall. The Art Museum of West Virginia University reserves the right to alter any stipulations stated in the rental agreement.
The Director of the Art Museum reserves the right to refuse privileges and/or use of the facilities when, in her opinion, the granting of such privileges will be detrimental to the best interests of the Museum Education Center.
Requests for use of space by any students of West Virginia University must be sent by a WVU faculty or staff member. Students (undergraduate or graduate) are not allowed to use the space unsupervised and a faculty or staff member must be present at all times.
