The Art Museum of West Virginia University offers a variety of educational programs, many of which are free and open to the public. These programs advance the stated goals of the Art Museum, as they serve the educational needs of students, enrich and expand the resources available for research and study in the arts and humanities, and assist in creating an environment that encourages creativity, curiosity, and learning for diverse audiences. Educational programs include:

- Specialized research opportunities with works of art in the collection.
